What is a Hoe Cake?
Hoe cakes, also known as corn cakes, or johnny cakes, are a classic Southern food. They are made from cornmeal, salt, and water and are often served with butter and honey. Hoe cakes were traditionally made by farmers in the South, who would use the hoe to make them. When well-made, they have a lovely crispy edge.
