The eighth series of "The Great British Baking Show ™" aired in 2017. 

This season marked a significant transition as the show moved from its previous broadcaster, the BBC, to Channel 4. Despite the change in network, the format and charm of the show remained intact.

The series featured a new set of amateur bakers who competed in a variety of baking challenges, including signature bakes, technical challenges, and showstopper creations. For the judging panel, Paul Hollywood was now joined by the immensely popular Prue Leith, with Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding as the hosts.

Throughout the eighth series, viewers were treated to an array of delectable and innovative bakes, from bread sculptures to intricate desserts. 

In the finale,  Sophie Faldo emerged as the winner, earning the coveted title of Britain's best amateur baker. Despite the initial concerns about the network change, the eighth series of GBBO retained its popularity and continued to be a beloved staple of worldwide television.
