Episode:
Challenge:
Elevated signature loaf cake
Alison Hammond: "So, for your first ever challenge, the judges would like you to bake an elevated version of your signature loaf cake."
Prue Leith: "A loaf cake just means a cake that's in the shape of a loaf."
Paul Hollywood: "It's all about the sponge, it's about the texture, and it's about the flavour. It's like the baking holy trinity. "
Prue Leith: "To really impress me, they need to have something that surprises me. They could put two kinds of sponge together so it looks marbled, or they could bury something interesting inside."
Paul Hollywood: "Time management is critical. You don't want to put decoration on top of a warm cake. It literally just melts and slides off. It's going to be tricky."
