Michael (goes by Mike) is a 27-year-old (at the time of appearing on MasterChef ™) business owner from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He grew up in New Jersey and says his cooking style is definitely Italian-based, but he’s not Italian at all.

Michael: "So we have a truffle tortellini with the mint and pea puree, the preserved lemon vinaigrette with asparagus and wild mushrooms."

Michael: "So it's an herb crusted rack of venison with butternut squash, caramelized onions, and duck fat puree with swiss chard and a blackberry wine sauce."

Deconstructed Peach Cobbler with White Chocolate Cake, Passion Fruit Zabaglione, Buttermilk Ice Cream, Streusel Crumble, Grilled Peaches and Passionfruit Syrup


Michael: "You have a peach cobbler inspired dessert. It is a white chocolate pound cake with a passion fruit Zabayon with a buttermilk ice cream streusel crumble, brown sugared grilled peaches, finished with a passion fruit syrup."

NY Strip

NY Strip with Sautéed Spinach, Artichoke Purée, Braised Fennel and Black Garlic Jus


Gordon Ramsay demonstrated the cooking of this dish as follows:


"Right, next entree, New York strip. Sauteed spinach, artichoke puree, braised fennel, and finished with a black garlic jus. I get my New York strip into the pan and I'm going to sear for two minutes on each side, and then that goes in the oven. And now we baste. The butter's nice and brown. The flavour's going in from there. Beautiful sauteed garlic spinach. We just literally go on into the middle of the plate. I've got my beautiful artichoke puree, and then from there, take my steak, and then artichoke chips on top of the steak, and then finally, black garlic jus. And there we have a pan roasted delicious New York strip."

Michael: "I made shrimp and grits with calabrian chili and hot, honey coated prawns with a creole inspired gravy that has cayenne and jalapeno inside of it."



Spicy Fried Pork with Fettucine

Bran flake breaded Pork Chop with Canned Meat and Spinach Pasta and lemon beurre blanc


Michael: "So it's a pork chop, breaded with bran flakes, fresh made pasta with some crispy meat, canned spinach, and lemon beurre blanc."
