Season:
Episode:
Challenge:
Redemption Cake
"The Ghost of Bakeoff Past"
The bakers were asked to make an exquisite celebration cake, inspired by the dish that has haunted each of them from an earlier time in the tent. This is a 'redemption bake' - a second chance to showcase their incredible talents.
The style of cake and flavours was left entirely up to the bakers.
Prue Leith said "I think Paul and I will be looking for ambition. We want a big, festive showstopper. It's got to be big, bold ... and delicious."
Paul Hollywood: "Whatever they create, whatever technique they use, it has to be perfect."

What did we learn from the Showstopper?
Almost every week during a series of The Great British Baking Show ™, it is true that the Showstopper Challenge does not represent anything that a typical baker would ever make at home. Therefore, most often we will not study the baker's dishes (since we'll never want to replicate them) - instead we'll highlight interesting elements of the bakes.
